The IIBU Master of Business Arts Degree (MBArts) is a unique offering that combines practical experience in consulting with academic work. The program provides the candidate with the skills needed to address the issues faced by independent businesses - along with the support needed to actually start and operate a successful independent consulting practice.
The MBArts in Consulting is a 30 credit degree program. All participants in the IIBU MBArts program are either enrolled in the Institute for Independent Business’s Consultancy Business Development Program (CBDP) to achieve IIB accreditation or have already been accredited as an Associate of the Institute. The MBArts builds on the methodology and training provided through the Institute’s CBDP and network of graduate Associates.
In parallel with the development and operation of an independent consultancy, the candidate will complete a 30 credit program consisting of a series of subject matter modules (21 credits) and a final capstone project case study (9 credits). The MBArts program itself is described in Part III below. Although students may choose to slow their progression, the program is designed to be completed over a 15 month period (5 quarters of study) with completion of the program within 3 years from the date of enrollment.
